TOPIC: WALKING IN THE LIGHT

TEXT: 1 JOHN 1:5-10; EPHESIANS 5:7-14
Definitions:
A. To walk in the light is to live a life that is governed by the word of God and guided by the Spirit of God. Since God is Light (1 John 1:5), walking in the light is walking with God. It’s abiding in Christ and obeying His words.
B. “To Walking in the light” means we consider Jesus as “the light” in this world, and we “walk” in that light by following His precepts, living in His power, and growing in His grace.
What to gain when we walk in the light:
1. You have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses you from all sins.
2. The blood of Jesus his Son cleanses you from all sin.
3. You will have the Spirit of God with you always.
4. When you walk in the light, you experience joy and peace.
5. You are sure of eternity (the Kingdom of God)
What to do to walk in the light:
1. You must confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and totally surrender your totality to him.
2. You must always pray daily: Make prayer a part of your daily routine. It’s a way to communicate with God, express gratitude, seek His guidance, and surrender your worries.
3. You must continually study the Scripture: Spend time reading and meditating on God’s Word. It’s full of wisdom, encouragement, and truth that can guide your decisions and actions.
4. You must be kind hearted to people: Show love and kindness to those around you. Remember, God’s light shines through us when we extend His love to others.
5. You must not play with fellowship: Regularly connect with other believers. This could be through a local church services, Bible study, Departmental fellowship, Prayer meetings, online programs etc. Encourage and support each other in your spiritual journeys.
6. You must Seek Forgiveness and also forgive: When you make mistakes or sin, promptly seek God’s forgiveness and turn away. God’s grace is sufficient, and His mercy is new every morning. And if someone offends you, always forgive, it’s very important.
7. You must serve others: Look for opportunities to serve within your community, your Church or helping a neighbor, serving others is a practical way to demonstrate God’s love.
8. You must always cultivate the habit of gratitude to God always: Regularly express gratitude for God’s blessings. This can help you focus on the positive aspects of life and recognize God’s hand in everything.
9. You must make sure you always live intentionally for God: Make conscious choices that align with your faith and values. This might mean saying ‘no’ to certain things so you can say ‘yes’ to what truly matters.
10. You must always Trust in God: Even during challenging times, trust God’s goodness and sovereignty. He is working all things together for your good. Romans 8:28.
11. You must always Share Your Faith as a child of God and as one walking in the light: Don’t hide your faith. Share your experiences, testimonies, and hope in Christ with others. You never know how your story might impact someone else’s spiritual journey.
Conclusion:
Our spiritual journey may differ from those around us. We may face unique challenges and temptations. Yet, the principles remain the same. We are called to choose the path of light over darkness, foster fellowship with other believers, and allow God’s light to sanctify us.
