“Daddy is heaven far?”
A question I asked my dad when I lost a friend in primary school. I really can’t say what was going through my young mind but there sure was a yearning to pay heaven a visit.
This yearning and inquisitiveness is not limited to young minds. We all sometimes want to walk up to that help desk to take our petitions straight to God especially when perplexed. Gone really are the days when we have to speak to God through a man like Moses or Joshua.
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it the most” Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)
Imagine having the direct access line of Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, the richest woman in Africa, with permission to call her whenever for whatever; support, advice, hangouts, I mean for every and anything, super cool, right? That’s what prayer is, unlimited access to God. You can reach him in the rain, sun, summer, winter, spring, harvest, sowing, pruning, dark times of life. It sounds too easy to be true, right? Using the earlier analogy of Mrs. Alakija, you would agree with me that somebody who has such access to her must either be her blood relative or somebody who has made a very remarkable imprint in her life. The same goes with prayer to our Lord God. We are His children and a sacrifice was paid for such free access.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood…” Romans 3:23 & 25 (NLT)
The price has been paid, feel free to buzz God’s helpline. There’s no congestion, all you need is to believe.
