GOD IS TOO FAITHFUL TO FAIL YOU

MAIN TEXT: Lamentations 3:22–23
Lamentations 3:22–23 – 22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
2 Timothy 2:13 – 3If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
1 Thessalonians 5:24 – 24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
Introduction
Faithfulness is one of the outstanding attributes of God. God is completely reliable, unchanging, trustworthy, and always true to His Word and His promises. Human beings may disappoint us. Friends may fail us. Circumstances may change. People may make promises and break them. But God cannot fail.
Even when we make mistakes or fall short of His glory, God remains faithful to His character and His covenant. Our failures do not make God unfaithful.
2 Timothy 2:13 – 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Therefore, when we say:
GOD IS TOO FAITHFUL TO FAIL YOU, we are declaring that God has the ability, willingness, integrity, and power to fulfill what He has promised concerning your life.
A. WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT GOD IS TOO FAITHFUL TO FAIL YOU?
1. God is trustworthy
You can trust God wholeheartedly.
Numbers 23:19 — 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?.
Psalm 37:5: 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Tell somebody: “You can trust God!”
2. God is dependable
You can depend on God in every situation.
When everyone else says, “I cannot help you,” God says, “I am with you.”
Psalm 46:1: 1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Your situation may change, but God’s character does not change.
3. You can rely on God
God is reliable. You may not understand what God is doing, but you can trust the God who is doing it.
Proverbs 3:5–6: 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
4. God is actively involved in bringing His purpose to pass
God does not merely make promises; He has the power to fulfill them.
Philippians 1:6:“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” What God started in your life, He is able to complete.
B. AREAS WHERE WE ENJOY THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD
1. Through God’s constant protection
Psalm 116:8 – 8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
Look at the three things God does:
He delivers our soul from death.
He delivers our eyes from tears.
He delivers our feet from falling.
There are dangers we saw, and there are dangers we never saw. There are accidents God prevented.
There are battles God fought without our knowledge. You are alive today because God has been faithful!
2. Through daily provision
Philippians 4:19 – 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Food, Shelter, Clothing, Strength, Opportunities, Helpers, Resources, Daily necessities
Matthew 6:11: 11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Every day we wake up is another testimony of God’s faithfulness.
3. Through deliverance from shame
God does not abandon His children to shame.
Isaiah 54:4 – 4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
Psalm 34:5 – 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
Romans 10:11: 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Your present situation may look shameful, but God is able to turn your shame into a testimony.
Isaiah 61:7: 7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.
4. Through divine healing
God has repeatedly demonstrated His faithfulness by healing and restoring His people.
Exodus 15:26 – 26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee
Psalm 103:2–3 – 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Psalm 107:20 – 20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Healing is another testimony of God’s faithfulness.
5. Through forgiveness of our sins
One of the greatest demonstrations of God’s faithfulness is His willingness to forgive us when we genuinely repent.
1 John 1:9 – 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Notice the word:
FAITHFUL!
God is faithful to forgive the repentant sinner.
He does not keep reminding you of what He has already forgiven.
C. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
1. God was faithful to Abraham and Sarah
Genesis 12, 15, 17, 21
God promised Abraham a son.
Years passed. Sarah waited. Abraham waited.
Humanly speaking, it looked impossible.
But God eventually gave them Isaac.
Delay does not mean denial.
God may not answer according to your timetable, but He will remain faithful to His Word.
2. God was faithful to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego
Daniel 3 – They refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image.
They were thrown into the fiery furnace.
But God did not abandon them in the fire.
The king looked and said: “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire.”
God did not prevent them from entering the fire, but He entered the fire with them. God may not always keep you out of the fire, but He will be with you in the fire.
3. God was faithful to David
1 Samuel 16–31; 2 Samuel 5
David was anointed king, but after his anointing, he faced serious opposition.
Saul pursued him.
David went through the wilderness.
He experienced danger, rejection and persecution.
Yet God’s promise concerning David did not fail.
Eventually, David became king over Israel.
Lesson: What God has ordained for you cannot be cancelled by the opposition of men.
4. God was faithful to Daniel
Daniel 6 – Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den because of his faithfulness to God.
But God shut the mouths of the lions.
Daniel came out alive. The God who was faithful in the lions’ den is still faithful today.
D. WHY SHOULD I TRUST GOD’S FAITHFULNESS?
1. Because God does not change
Malachi 3:6 – 6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
2. Because God cannot lie
Titus 1:2 – 2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
3. Because God keeps his promises
Joshua 21:45 – 45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
4. Because God has done it before
Your past testimonies are evidence that God is faithful.
5. Because what God starts, He can finish- Philippians 1:6 (6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:)
E. WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I AM WAITING FOR GOD?
1. Keep trusting
Don’t abandon God because the answer is delayed.
2. Keep praying
Luke 18:1 teaches us to pray and not faint. (1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;)
3. Keep believing
Faith does not depend on what you see.
4. Keep serving God
Don’t stop because of your circumstances.
5. Keep expecting
God’s silence does not mean God’s absence
Conclusion:
Beloved, people may fail you, but God will not fail you. Your strength may fail. Your money may fail.
Your connections may fail. Your plans may fail.
But God remains faithful.
