YOU HAVE STAYED HERE LONG ENOUGH: IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE

TEXT: Genesis 13:1-3; Deuteronomy 1:5-8; 1 Samuel 17:34-37.
Explanation/introduction:
A stagnant river breeds death, rusty, mosquitoes and all kinds of diseases. An unmoving vehicle is destroyed by rust. Oversleeping person develops bedsores. Have you ever thought what an unchanging, unmoving, undervaluing life breeds or develops into? You have stayed long enough in that situation of yours, dream of yours, condition of yours, organization of yours, position of yours. See and take possession of great things ahead.
“You have stayed here long enough” is a divine prompt indicating that the season of preparation, learning, or stagnation has come to an end, and it’s time to move forward, embrace change, and step into new opportunities, challenges, and experiences that will usher in growth, transformation, and fulfillment of God’s purposes for your life.
What to understand:
1. Recognize Your Season: (1 Samuel 17:34)
David knew it was time to move from being a shepherd to facing Goliath.
“To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
2. Don’t Get Too Comfortable where you are: (1 Samuel 17:35)
David didn’t let his comfort as a shepherd hold him back from God’s next assignment.
“Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
3. Step Out in Faith: (1 Samuel 17:36)
David stepped out in faith, trusting God for victory over Goliath.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
4. Let Go of the Past (1 Samuel 17:37)
David didn’t let his past experiences as a shepherd define his present or future.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” Isaiah 43:18
5. Always Embrace Change (Matthew 9:17)
New wine requires new wineskins; be open to change and growth.
“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” Ephesians 4:23
Conclusion:
It’s time to move forward, step out in faith, and embrace change. God has something new for you, but you must be willing to let go of the old and trust Him for the future
