YOUR SALVATION IS VERY IMPORTANT (DON’T LOSE IT)
Text: Mark 8:36; Luke 23:40-43
Mark 8:36(NKJV): 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
Luke 23:40-43 – 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Definition of Salvation Biblically:
1. Salvation is the deliverance from sin and its consequences, achieved through faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
2. Salvation is the redemption of humanity from the power of Satan, sin, and death, accomplished through Jesus’ death and resurrection (Romans 5:8 – 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.).
Why Salvation is Important:
1. You gain Eternal Life: Salvation guarantees eternal life with God (John 3:16 -For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.)
2. You gain Forgiveness of Sins: Salvation brings forgiveness of sins (1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.)
3. You gain Peace with God: Salvation establishes peace with God (Romans 5:1 – Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.)
4. You gain Freedom from Fear: Salvation frees us from fear of death and judgment (Hebrews 2:15 – And might deliver all those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.)
5. You gain Purpose and Meaning: Salvation gives life purpose and meaning (Ephesians 2:10 – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.)
6. You gain Hope for the Future: Salvation offers hope for eternity (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 – But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope)
7. You enjoy the Glory of God: Salvation brings glory to God (Ephesians 1:14 – Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.)
Practical Biblical Examples:
1. The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32): Illustrates God’s love and forgiveness in salvation.
2. Paul’s Conversion (Acts 9:1-31): Demonstrates salvation’s transformative power.
3. The Thief on the Cross (Luke 23:40-43): Shows salvation’s availability to all.
Conclusion:
Your salvation is more important than anything this world can offer. Don’t trade eternal life for temporary gains. Come to Jesus today, confess your sins, and receive forgiveness. Let Him give you purpose, peace, and hope for eternity.
If you’re unsure of your salvation or desire to rededicate your life to Christ, please come forward. Let’s pray together:
Say after me:
“Dear Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, I confess my sins and short-coming today, and I receive Your forgiveness. Save me and give me eternal life. I surrender my life to You, in Jesus Name. Amen.”
