The Power of His Presence
TEXT: Exodus 33:12-14; Psalm 139:7-12; Daniel 6:1-3
Exodus 33:12-14 – 12 And Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
Psalm 139:7-12 – 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
Daniel 6:1-3 – 1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Definition: God’s presence means God is always there even when the awareness is not. The Holy Spirit indwells believers at all times.
God’s manifest presence, however, is something that occurs in our lives as He chooses to reveal Himself to us in his own way.
Introduction:
We are exploring the comforting truth of God’s presence in our lives. In Psalm 139, David writes “Where can I flee from your presence?” Let’s reflect on the aspect of His presence stated below.
Types of God’s presence
1. God is Omnipotence: means God is all-powerful. This means God has supreme power and has no limitations.
2. God is Omniscience: meaning, God is all-knowing. This means God knows everything, including the past and future.
3: God is Omnipresence: meaning, God is everywhere at the same time.
4. God is Intimate:
God is personally present with us. Psalm 139:9-10. (9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.)
He knows our thoughts, our hearts, and our ways.
5. God is Unchanging:
God’s presence is constant and unchanging. Psalm 139:11-12 (11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.)
He is our rock, our refuge, and our comfort. The ancient of days. One that can NEVER CHANGE
What you enjoy in His presence
1. You enjoy pure and sound fellowship with Him.
2. You enjoy perfect relationship with the Holy Spirit.
3. You enjoy the divine revelation of God.
4. You become men and women of signs and wonder.
Three (3) things to do to enjoy God’s presence
1. You must leave above sin in your life.
2. You must have a perfect relationship with the Holy Spirit.
3. You must constantly sustain a continuous relationship with God.
Looking at the life Daniel
1. Daniel was Faithful in his service: He served the king with integrity and excellent spirit even in a foreign land. Daniel 6:1-2 (1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; 2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.)
2. Daniel lived an exceptional life and has good qualities in him: Daniel exceptional life and quality set him apart making the king to pick interest in him. Daniel 6:3 (3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.)
3. Daniel trusted in God’s sovereignty: Even when things were tough, when there were oppositions and persecutions, Daniel never weaver, he trusted in God’s sovereignty. Daniel 6:4-5 (4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.)
4. Daniel had victory over all oppositions and persecutions.
In whatever we do and whatever we may pass through, If we allow the presence of God in our lives, we will always overcome. Daniel 6:20-22 (20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? 21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. 22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.)
Understand this:
God’s presence is not limited by space or time. He is with us in every joy and every struggle. His presence is our comfort, our strength, and our hope.
Conclusion:
May we rest in the assurance of His presence. May we seek His face, feel His nearness, and trust in His love. As David said, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” Nowhere, for He is our God, our Savior, and Lord.
