THE POWER OF PRAYER.

TOPIC: THE POWER OF PRAYER
TEXT: Psalm 91:1-16; Mathew 17:20; Acts 16:16-28; James 5:16-18; Luke 5:16.
Definition: Prayer naturally is said to be talking to God, it is a direct address to God. Prayer is a way the believer in Christ communicates his or her emotions and desires to God and also a way of fellowship with God. Prayer is also a way of strengthening our fellowship with our God.
There are three stages:
1. Worship / Praise
2. Word studying (Reading the Word of God)
3. Prayer.
NOTE: Prayer is a mighty weapon at the disposal of every man and woman who loves God and knows His Son Jesus Christ and also knows how to make use of it to achieve the purpose and will of God in their lives and family.
Prayer also energizes the heart of a believer through the power of God’s blessing on your life and circumstances.
I. TYPES OF PRAYERS
1. Prayer of Adoration – Worshiping and Praising God (Psalm 148:13)
2. Prayer of Thanksgiving (1 Chronicles 16:34-35)
3. Prayer of confession (Psalm 32:5)
4. Prayer of quiet reflection (Psalm 63:6)
5. Prayer for healing (Jeremiah 17:14)
6. Prayer for deliverance and help (Psalm 107:6)
7. Prayer of petition and intercession (Colossians 1:9-12)
8. Prayer of Blessing (Philippians 1:9-11)
9. Prayer on Spiritual warfare (2Cor 10:3-4)
II. WHAT TO ENJOY IF YOU CAN PRAY
a) The Lord will strengthen, help and uphold you (Isaiah 41: 10)
b) Prayer will give you Longevity (Psalm 91:16)
c) Negative arrow or weapon will not penetrate you (Isaiah 54:17)
d) Prayer will deliver you from all evil works and preserve your life (2Tim 4:18)
e) Prayer will help establish you and keep you from evil (2Thess 3:3)
f) The Lord will restore, protect, comfort and anoint you unto goodness and mercy (Psalm 23:1-6)
g) The Lord will become your rock, shield and horn of your salvation (2 Sam 22:3)
h) The Lord becomes your place of refuge, strength and help in trouble (Psalm 46:1)
i) The Lord will revive and save you from enemies (James 4:7)
j) The Lord shall save you (Proverbs 18:10)
k) The Lord will always stand by you and He will neither fail nor forsake you (Deut 31:6)
l) The Lord will become your defence (Psalm 3:6)
m) The Lord will not allow you to be consumed (Malachi 3:6)
n) The Lord shall preserve you (Psalm 16:1)
