THANKSGIVING

TOPIC: THANKSGIVING
TEXT: Psalm 65:1-11; 103:1-5
Psalm 65:1-11 – 1Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
6 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
Psalm 103:1-5 – 1Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Introduction:
What God did:
(1) The Lord forgives our iniquities (Verse 3a). (I Who forgiveth all thine iniquities)
• We need to always give thanks in all we do because He is a forgiving Father.
(2) The Lord heals all our diseases (Verse 3b). (who healeth all thy diseases;)
• All that say “Happy New Year” wants to see December in sound health.
3. He redeems our Life from destructions (Verse 4a). (Who redeemeth thy life from destruction)
• All the days we travel, He protects us from the terror of accidents and death.
4. He crowned us with His loving kindness and tender mercies (Verse 4b) (who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;)
• The Love of God is not the same with the Love of man.
• We receive mercy through the love of God.
• What we are today is by the Mercies of God.
5. He satisfies our month with good things (Verse 5a). (Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things)
• He was benevolent to us and blesses us without holding back
6. He renews your youth like an eagle. (Verse 5b) – (so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s)
• He daily strengthens us and empowers us to do exploits.
What we must do:
(1) Learn to bless (thank Him) with your entire whole being (soul) and bless His Holy Name (Verse 1).
(2) Learn to bless Him for His benefits over your life (Verse 2).
(3) Be faithful in your vows (Psalm 65:2).
 Forget what you have not achieved.
 Forget the land you have not brought.
 Forget the house you have not built.
 Forget the child you have not given birth to now.
 Forget that thing you could not get or do this year.
